Islam has been since the beginning of the religion quite strict about the women dress code. Islam says that the believing women should lower their gaze, guard their modesty, not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof. The dress code particularly is also said to save them from the evil eyes. In today’s society modesty is seen as a sign of weakness or insecurity. This is not the case in Islam, where modesty is seen as a sign of respect for oneself and others. Hijab is a headscarf hides only the oval shape and not faces which is widespread throughout the Muslim community. Chador is also a traditional garment worn in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is the full cloak that covers the body and hair, it is not obligatory in Islamic countries, unlike the veil. Khimar- A general term for a woman dressing & a head and face veil. This word is sometimes used to describe a particular style of scarf that drapes over the entire top half of a woman body, down to the waist.

Abaya- generally made of black synthetic fibre, sometimes beautified with coloured boundaries It is usually fastened so that it is closed. It may be combined with a headscarf or face veil. Salwar kameez- Worn by both men and women primarily in the Indian subcontinent, this is a pair of loose trousers that are worn with a long tunic
